The Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link between Denmark and Germany and the Brenner Base Tunnel between Austria and Italy are both record-breaking European mega projects that will play a vital role in the future European transport network. On Wednesday 21st September, representatives from the project companies, and members of the two regional development organisations, String and Brenner Corridor Platform, signed an agreement on mutual co-operation.

Norwegian Follo Line Project: Large Contract signed

The Norwegian National Rail Administration and Società Italiana per Condotte d’Acqua S.p.A (Condotte) have signed the EPC contract for the Follo Line subproject Oslo Central Station. The contract, which is the fourth out of five large EPC contracts in this Norwegian mega project, includes the execution of engineering, procurement and construction of civil works close to the Oslo Central Station. The contract has a value of approx. 2 billion NOK and has been signed by President and Chairman of Condotte  Mr. Duccio Astaldi, Mr. Gunnar Løvås Deputy Director General of  the Norwegian National Rail Administration and Mr. Erik Smith Project Director of the Follo Line Project.


DMA launches Practical Training Program with Bechtel to develop Emirati Engineers

The Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) in Abu Dhabi Emirate signed an agreement with Bechtel to initiate an intensive training program involving the participation of up to 100 engineers of the Municipal System in the emirate over the next ten years. The signing ceremony took place at the DMA main office in Abu Dhabi and was attended by HE Khalifa Mohammed Al Mazroui, Undersecretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs, and David Welch, President, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Bechtel.


Crossrail: Green light for new station building at West Ealing

Proposals for a major overhaul of West Ealing station have been given the go ahead by Ealing Council.

The proposals, designed by Bennetts Associates, are for a bright, modern, spacious new ticket hall. The new glass and steel structure will be located on Manor Road and a range of other major improvements will be made to the station, including:


Aker Solutions ASA: Second-Quarter Results 2015

Aker Solutions' revenue was steady at NOK 8 billion in the second quarter of 2015 from a year earlier amid progress on major projects from Africa to Norway and Brazil. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) were NOK 376 million, compared with NOK 472 million a year earlier.
