Sustainable and reliable Hatch-designed Chaudière Dam in Canada officially opens

In 1998, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) began the commissioning of physical investigative studies and engineering feasibility studies for the Big Chaudière Dam, one of the three dams located on the French River in Dokis, Ontario, Canada. The results from the studies, coupled with dam safety reviews performed in 2005 and 2011, led to the consensus that the dam needed to be replaced with a new structure immediately downstream of its existing location.

Industry Leader and Hatch Employee appointed to the Order of Canada

Bert Wasmund, a Hatch employee for 51 years this fall, has been named to the Members of the Order of Canada. He joins our founder, Dr. Gerry Hatch, who, in 1997, was also bestowed this highest national civilian honor. One of 99 individuals invested in 2017 as part of Canada's 150-year celebration, Dr. Wasmund is a world-renowned leader in metallurgical plant engineering and design; an innovator, philanthropist, and long-time mentor to fellow industry experts.

Ceremonial Opening of the new Potash Mine Legacy in Canada

 

Today, K+S celebrates the opening of the new potash mine in Canada with about 700 guests, among are the Honourable Brad Wall, Premier of Saskatchewan, and numerous local government dignitaries, representatives from suppliers and employees. During the ceremony, the mine will be handed over to the operations team. The five-year construction phase has been successfully completed and the first tonne of marketable potash is expected to be produced in June as planned.
