Restart of SSAB Special Steels in Oxelösund pushed back until the Beginning of February

During the planned maintenance outage at SSAB Special Steels in Oxelösund in the beginning of December, ABB replaced the control system for the power supply of the rolling mill. During the planned restart, a transformer broke down, as earlier communicated. After repair, during the restart of the powertrain of the rolling mill, there was another breakdown of one out of six similar transformers.

New President of LKAB Berg & Betong

As of 1 February 2017, Björn Koorem will be President of LKAB Berg & Betong AB, a subsidiary group wholly own by LKAB. Among other things, the group provides contracting services in rock reinforcement and drifting, produces and delivers concrete and blasting agents, processes and hauls waste rock and minerals, and provides engineering, construction and maintenance services for LKAB and external customers.

Boliden’s Q3: Strong Earnings and high Mine Production

Boliden’s third quarter was primarily characterised by improvements in metal prices and high production in Mines. Revenues for the period totalled SEK 9,733 m (9,764) and the operating profit, excluding revaluation of process inventory, improved to SEK 1,318 m (1,055). The free cash flow was negatively affected by higher stock levels and totalled SEK 91 m (953).

Sami Eronen has been appointed Head of Ruukki Construction, a subsidiary of SSAB, as of December 1, 2016. Sami Eronen will report to the Board of Directors of Ruukki Construction Oy and to the President and CEO of SSAB, Martin Lindqvist.

Effective as of September 1, 2016, Atlas Copco AB (Stockholm, Sweden) owns the former Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum GmbH, renamed Leybold GmbH. Founded in 1873, Atlas Copco is a global player with more than 43,000 employees in over 180 countries. Leybold becomes part of the Vacuum Solutions Division, belonging to the Compressor Technique Business Area, with approximately 6,500 employees represented in over 35 countries.
