Using Data from 150 Years of Coal Mining for the Tasks of the Future
Artificial intelligence quickly finds the right data and optimises search results in the process.
Search engines like Google and others show the way: Enter keywords or a short question and the result you are looking for is there. The 'KISS42' project promises the answer to all operational questions for RAG. In cooperation with an interdisciplinary RAG team, the start-up ambeRoad from Aachen developed the intelligent search engine amberSearch - designed for the specific data and requirements of the company. It not only helps to make research in RAG's documents efficient for employees, but above all to make the archived knowledge from 150 years of coal mining usable for current operational tasks. ambeRoad was founded by Bastian Maiworm, Philipp Reißel, Julian Johannes Reinauer and Igli Manaj.

Final Decision on Engebø Operating License expected after Summer
In November 2020, the Directorate of Mining confirmed that the appeals received in relation to the operating license for the Engebø Rutile and Garnet project did not provide any basis to revoke or change the decision, and informed that the matter had been forwarded to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries for final decision on the appeals.
Nordic Mining ASA has earlier communicated that a final decision should be expected in the first half of 2021. This has been delayed as result of revised priorities in the Ministry due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the final decision is now expected after summer.
The Company is confident that the operating license will be retained as granted in June 2020, which grants Nordic Mining rights to all minerals in the Engebø deposit, and includes an open pit and underground phase, however, with a possibility for revision after 10 years.
