Voith Turbo: New App for Hydrodynamic Coupling

There are more than a million hydrodynamic couplings from Voith in operation worldwide. In numerous heavy industry sectors like mining, petrochemicals, steel or thermal power plants, they ensure a gentle startup of equipment and machines and at the same time protect them from possible damage even under extreme conditions. With the new TurboGuide Mobile, Voith has developed an app with an intuitive interface for the efficient and comprehensive management of constant-fill fluid couplings.

App users can conveniently view all relevant data on the filling quantity of the coupling via smartphone or tablet. Moreover, the app provides access to operating manuals, tutorials, troubleshooting, and the Voith Turbo Webshop. Since it is not uncommon for several fluid couplings to be in operation at a company, TurboGuide Mobile helps provide an overview of the existing coupling fleet.

The way the app works is very straightforward. Every coupling can be captured by scanning the QR code. Alternatively, the user can also enter the serial number. Just a few seconds later he receives all the data on the specific coupling like filling volume, filling angle, power, speed or operating fluid.

The app therefore includes an integrated tutorial, for example, which clearly explains how to perform a level check or the initial filling of the coupling. In conjunction to this, the smartphone’s gyrometer function can be used as a tool to calculate the necessary filling volume. “This new kind of method is currently the technical highlight of the app,” Ohr emphasizes.

And if the information provided by the TurboGuide Mobile occasionally doesn’t help solve the problem, the user can contact Voith’s phone service support directly from the app, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

The TurboGuide Mobile app, developed by Voith and programmed by the Munich-based start-up Knowron, is now available from Google Play and the Apple App Store.
