South Harz Potash: Drilling commences at Ohmgebirge

South Harz Potash Limited (ASX:SHP) announce that drilling has now commenced on drill site OHM-02, the first of two confirmatory holes located within the flagship Ohmgebirge Mining Licence (Ohmgebirge) area of its 100%-owned South Harz Potash Project. This hole is scheduled to be completed in early February and will be assayed for chemical composition immediately once core is withdrawn.

Fugro secures Cable Route Survey Contract for Denmark’s Energy Islands Development supporting the Transition to renewable Energy

Fugro has secured a new contract with Energinet to undertake cable route surveys for the North Sea Energy Island project.

The Energy Island will serve as an offshore power plant distributing up to 10 GW of offshore wind to Denmark and other neighbouring markets. Fugro will perform a combination of geophysical, geotechnical services and laboratory testing to provide valuable insight into the ground engineering challenges along the cable route from the Danish landfalls to the future artificial island location.

Fugro’s dedicated survey vessels will mobilise to site in March 2022 to begin the geophysical and geotechnical surveys. This will include remotely operated vehicle (ROV) inspections and shallow geotechnical investigations using Fugro’s innovative Blue Snake geotechnical system. The Blue Snake integrates cone penetration testing (CPT) and sampling technology to enable data to be captured in a single pass with testing completed consecutively at fixed distances along the cable route. The system integrates a high performance vibrocorer and 10 ton CPT into a single frame with a customised launch and recovery system – minimising manual handling and improving workability in difficult weather conditions. This innovative technology optimises data correlation, improving design and engineering for future cable installation works.

This Energy Island contract follows on from two geotechnical site investigation contracts as well as a marine site characterisation contract awarded to Fugro earlier this year. Fugro is also supporting Energinet with wind-resource mapping after installing and operating wind lidar buoys in both the Baltic Sea and North Sea.

Subway Line Crossing U2xU5: Bauer installs the deepest bored Piles in Vienna

Bauer Spezialtiefbau Ges.m.b.H., the Austrian subsidiary of Bauer Spezialtiefbau GmbH, was commissioned by the joint venture U2xU5, comprising the companies Swietelsky AG, Hochtief Infrastructure GmbH and HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H., to construct approximately 35,000 m of piles with diameters of 620 mm, 880 mm, 1,180 mm and drilling depths of up to 61 m for nine shafts and station structures in the middle of the city center of the Austrian capital (contract sections U2/22 & U5/2). For this purpose, up to five large rotary drilling rigs are being mobilized in the period from April 2021 to fall 2022.
