Thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies provides innovative and sustainable Filter Technology for Alumina Plant in Kazakhstan

  • Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) continues to invest in future-proof technology
  • Replacement of four electric filters at the Pavlodar Alumina Plant
  • Significant reduction of emissions

Thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies and Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), one of the world's leading and most diversified companies in the extraction and processing of natural resources, recently signed a contract for the supply and replacement of four electric filters at the Pavlodar Alumina Plant, part of Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC.

Roman Karl, Regional Director CIS, Thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies: “The hybrid filter technology is one of the most innovative available and can achieve a cleaning efficiency of more than 99.99%. We are glad to work with ERG and fully support its commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives.”

In 2020, Thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies replaced the first two filters on furnaces No. 1 and 2. This time, the dust and gas cleaning system of sintering furnaces No. 4 and 5 will be reconstructed and filters No. 7, 8, 9, 10 will be replaced.

Dr, Reza Poorvash, CEO Europe & Asia, Thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies: “We are very pleased to have received another order after 2020 to replace four filter units at the Pavlodar Alumina Plant. Our sustainable and practicable solutions convinced ERG to choose us as a partner for this project, and we are looking forward making a valuable contribution to the green transformation in Kazakhstan in the future.”

Pavlodar Alumina Plant is one of the largest aluminum oxide factories in the world. The phased replacement of electric filters with hybrid ones are expected to significantly reduce dust emissions and improve the environment in Pavlodar.

Roman Romanov, President of Aluminium of Kazakhstan: “The project continues a large-scale program to replace old filters with modern hybrid ones. It is pivotal in ERG's long-term Environmental Strategy, as it is aimed at reducing emissions with a focus on the minimum requirements to meet world standards.”
