Urban construction requires high-strenth concrete and reinforcement solution for demanding projects like highrise buildings or infrastructure projects where the concrete has to withstand high pressures. In recent years, Sika has expanded its presence in the fast-growing concrete reinforcing fiber market, with several acquisitions and investments in new production lines.

Just five percent of installed concrete contains fibers. Experts anticipate that concrete reinforcing fibers will usher in the same magnitude of progress in construction as admixtures have since their introduction to the market.

Studies have shown that adding fibers to concrete increases flexural strength 2.5-fold. Fibers also provide improved corrosion protection, fire resistance, and extend service life.

Skanska to construct new Entrance to Pennsylvania Station in New York City, USA

Skanska has signed a contract with Vornado Realty Trust to construct an additional entrance to New York City’s historic Pennsylvania Station (Penn Station). This contract is worth USD 119 M, about SEK 1.1 billion, which will be included in US order bookings for the second quarter of 2019.

Vale informs on the decision by the Lower Public Treasury Court of Belo Horizonte (6ª Vara de Fazenda Pública e Autarquias de Belo Horizonte), on July 9th, 2019, within the scope of the lawsuits 5010709-36.2019.8.13.0024 and 5026408-67.2019.8.13.0024 proposed by the State of Minas Gerais and the lawsuits 5044954-73.2019.8.13.0024 and 5087481-40.2019.8.13.0024 proposed by the State Public Prosecutors of Minas Gerais, which declared Vale responsible for reparation of damages caused by the breach of the tailing dam in Córrego do Feijão, in extension and form to be subsequently defined.

Milan M4 Metro Line: TBM Arrival at Solari Station completes Excavation of one Tunnel on western End

A new milestone has been reached on the M4, the metro line being built in Milan by a consortium led to Salini Impregilo.
