Vale informs on Slope of the Gongo Soco Mine in Brazil

Vale informs that its teams continue to monitor and report to authorities the movements in the primary and secondary portions of the northern slope of the Gongo Soco mine pit, in Barão de Cocais (MG), paralyzed since 2016. The northern slope continues to slide into the structure, a process that has been taking place gradually since last year, as reported to the market on May 16th, 2019.

John Holland joins new Era for Adelaide’s Tram and Bus Network in Australia

Australia’s leading private rail operator John Holland is excited to have been awarded a significant contract to conduct bus and tram operations in one of the nation’s major capital cities.

As part of a landmark agreement with the South Australian government, John Holland is partnering with Transit Systems and UGL, operating locally as Torrens Connect, to deliver customer-focused public transport services across Adelaide.

John Holland CEO Joe Barr today welcomed the announcement, the first multi-modal contract in the company’s 70-year history, as an exciting new chapter for South Australia.

“We have a proud history of delivering world-class public transport services across Australia and are committed to improving services for Adelaide commuters,” Mr Barr said.

“From operating the country’s first metro train in Sydney, to Canberra’s new light rail, John Holland has a proven record of putting the customer at the centre of everything we do.”

The agreement will see John Holland become a multi-modal service provider, one of the only private organisations in Australia to operate trains, trams and buses.

Executive General Manager – Rail, Steve Butcher said John Holland will draw upon its national expertise to deliver reliable and improved transport services.

“We understand the importance to a community of safe, reliable and sustainable public transport options,” Mr Butcher said.

“The South Australian Public Transport Authority (“SAPTA”) has recognised our commitment to South Australians and we look forward to working with them over the coming years to deliver improvements across the network.”

The Adelaide bus and tram contract begins in July 2020, and adds to John Holland’s existing operations and maintenance portfolio which includes the NSW Country Regional Network, Sydney Metro, Canberra Metro, and Melbourne Metro.
