Metso supplies Calcining System to Russia

Metso has signed a contract for the delivery of a calcining system to a customer in Russia. The order value of approximately EUR 30 million has been booked in Metso’s Q1 2020 orders received. Commissioning of the system is expected to take place in 2023.

Mining Industry remains hopeful post Brexit, says GlobalData

After the UK left the European Union on 31 January, GlobalData asked the readers of Mining Technology to vote on what they expected Brexit’s effect on the UK mining industry to be. According to the 2,094 respondents, 29% saw the move as strongly positive, 28% strongly negative, 16% slightly negative, 10% slightly positive and 17% neutral.
GlobalData’s Mining Technology writer Yoana Cholteeva comments: “Brexit has already had a significant effect on the UK mineral industry. Market conditions and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Brexit saw UK-based operator Sirius Minerals cancel a US$500m bond sale to finance its polyhalite Woodsmith project in North Yorkshire in September 2019, a mining project which would have become the biggest in the UK.

Daldrup & Söhne AG: Order from the Netherlands for 20M Euro for geothermal Heating Plant Project

The drilling technology and geothermal energy group Daldrup & Söhne has received an order from Aardwarmte Combinatie Luttelgeest B.V., Luttelgeest (ACL) for three geothermal boreholes with drilling lengths of up to 2,440 meters, as well as the construction of a heating plant and a heat network. The current order backlog of the Daldrup Group thus amounts to approx. 51 million Euros.

Online Training Module for Vibrating Screens now available at NSK Academy

Geothermal seismic Exploration Campaign for Stadtwerke München completed ahead of Schedule

A DMT crew and 9 vibro vehicles have successfully surveyed an area southeast of Munich for Stadtwerke München GmbH (SWM) using the proven slip sweep method, which delivers excellent data quality for high-resolution imaging with minimum acquisition footprint.

Seismic operations were completed on Friday 22nd February ahead of schedule and without any accidents or major incidents.

In total the 82-member DMT-crew explored an area of 183.5 square kilometers in under three weeks, recording underground data from 15,045 source points and 15,043 receiver points. Field equipment is now being collected as quickly as possible and brought back to base camp where the data will be downloaded and processed by exerts at DMT Petrologic GmbH & Co. KG and finally interpreted by DMT’s geologists.

Having a reliable picture of the underground will enable the client to best utilise the geothermal potential of the region.
