51st virtual International Symposium on Hydraulic Engineering Aachen (vIWASA)
Due to the corona pandemic the Symposium on “Adaption of Water Management to Climate Change: Challenges, Opportunities and Goals” will take place digitally on January 7, 2021.
The effects of climate change are already visible today. In future, an increase in anthropogenically caused climatic changes is to be expected, which will also pose great challenges for water resources management. The focus will be on floods and heavy rainfall events, but also droughts and increasing low water events as well as sinking groundwater levels. These are challenges that we already have to deal with today. All the more reason to ask what effects of climate change we still have to face and how we have to adapt and expand our water management infrastructure in a resilient and sustainable manner. This represents a task for the water industry that spans generations. The 51st vIWASA is dedicated to the current state of scientific knowledge on climate change and questions how the world' s climate will change in the coming decades and what effects can be expected especially in the field of hydrology.
The IWASA, organized by the IWW, has established as an important meeting and information point frequently used by expert groups. It addresses primarily engineers and natural scientists from the fields of hydraulic engineering and water management, but interested people from all fields are welcome. Due to the corona pandemic, the 51st vIWASA will take place digitally as an online seminar for the first time. The health as well as the protection of all participants has the highest priority. Shortly we will provide further information about the event here.
