Nornickel Proceeds With Automation and Modernization of Equipment in the Russian Far North
MMC Norilsk Nickel, headed by Vladimir Potanin, is pursuing its ambitious programme aimed at the modernization and automation of production facilities. As part of that plan, the Company’s Polar Division has received a new batch of equipment to improve the efficiency of operations, and autonomous vehicle devices have reached the second stage of testing at the Severny mine at Kola MMC.
Under the equipment renovation programme, the enterprises of the Polar Division received 25 units of mobile equipment for various purposes in 2020. The total value of the equipment delivered amounts to around $8mln (RUR 600mln). One of the main points of the programme was the purchase of new equipment for the local motor transport association.

Claudia Bidwell is taking over as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Implenia, Switzerland’s leading multinational integrated construction and real estate services company, as of 1 December 2020. She also joins Group management on the same date as a member of the Implenia Executive Committee. She succeeds Christelle Beneteau who, holding this position since March 2019, has decided to leave Implenia for personal reasons.
Before joining Implenia in September 2019 as Global Head of People and Organization Development and Head of HR Switzerland, Claudia Bidwell was a Global HR Head at Takeda Pharmaceuticals in Zurich, and prior to this she held different leadership positions at Novartis in Basel from 2004 to 2017.
Graduating from London University (UCL) in a Bachelor of Science in Economics, where she was a research assistant with a focus on environmental economics, she then spent eight years working as a Management Consultant in London. In 1997 she joined Unisys Corporation in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, USA where she worked as Corporate Director for seven years. She completed her education with various Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School. She holds both German and Swiss citizenship, is married, has three children and lives near Lausanne.

Geogrid reduces Earthworks by more than 40 per Cent
Embankments have to be reinforced, subsoils stabilised, or sinkholes bridged. Due to extreme weather events, the need for soil reinforcement steadily increases. High strength geogrids can make such work much easier. Secugrid HS geogrids from Naue enable time savings of more than 40 per cent for complex earthworks.
With weak and compressible soils, earthworks are often a long process. The fill has to be installed in stages, and the soft soil may need to be relieved by a deep foundation. These measures usually take a lot of time and increase costs.
