Sedgman secures Operations Contract Extension

Cimic Group’s minerals processing company, Sedgman, has been awarded an extended operations and maintenance services contract at the Mount Pleasant mine in New South Wales.

Sedgman will operate and maintain Mach Energy's Mount Pleasant Coal Handling and Preparation facility for an additional three years. The extension will generate revenue of $120 million to Sedgman, bringing total revenue from the contract to $200 million.

Cimic Group Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Juan Santamaria said: “Sedgman and the Cimic Group have a strong history with Mach Energy which we’re pleased to continue. Sedgman’s leadership in minerals processing will ensure maximum resource recovery for our long-term client.”

Sedgman Managing Director Grant Fraser said: “This contract is testament to the partnership we have forged with Mach Energy, and the integration of our engineering and operations capability.”

Sedgman completed the construction of this facility and have been operating the plant since 2019.

Green Light for fossil-free Steel in Oxelösund

The Land and Environment Court has decided to grant SSAB Oxelösund an environmental permit to convert its steelmaking operations and reduce carbon dioxide activities by 2025. This also means that we will take a step nearer towards fossil-free steel production across SSAB in 2045.

Metso Outotec wins EUR 100 Million Order for Delivery of complete Key Equipment for a new Zinc Plant in Russia

Metso Outotec has signed a contract to deliver a complete package of key process equipment for a greenfield zinc plant in Verkhny Ufaley in the Chelyabinsk region in Russia. The contract value of approximately EUR 100 million has been booked in Metso Outotec’s fourth-quarter 2020 order intake, a quarter of which will be booked in Minerals segment and the rest in Metals segment.

Metso Outotec has signed an agreement to sell its Aluminium business to REEL International, headquartered in France. The business was announced to be for sale a year ago and has been since reported under discontinued operations.
