Bauer carries out Specialist Foundation Engineering Works in Bavarian Town
In the heart of Wolfratshausen, a Bavarian town approx. 30 km south of Munich and 10 km east of Lake Starnberg, a new residential complex with additional commercial spaces is currently under construction: the future “Loisach Quartier”. Plans for the southern section include construction of a new supermarket and 47 apartments along with a two-story underground garage, while the northern section includes an apartment building with 70 apartments and another underground garage.
Bauer Spezialtiefbau GmbH was tasked by the client, Loisach Quartier GmbH & Co. KG, with the execution of various specialist foundation engineering works for construction of the required excavation pit. “In total, we will construct 5,500 m² of static MIP wall up to a depth of 22.6 m,” explains Michael Doll, Project Manager at Bauer. “In addition, roughly 1,500 m² of sheet pile walls will be executed up to a depth of 22 m to ensure the underground flow of ground water after the construction project has finished. After the uplift prevention has been achieved, these will be pulled out again.” The works also include the construction of 750 m² of king pile wall with wood and shotcrete paneling, 460 running meters of anchors with four to five strands as well as bracings, micropiles and a dewatering system.
Two RG 25 as well as an RG 19 are used to complete the MIP wall, the sheet pile wall and king pile wall construction. A Klemm KR 806 rig is used for the anchor construction. Due to multiple changes in height, detailed sequence planning is required; in addition, the MIP wall must be installed in partially consolidated soil. Construction work for the excavation pit began in November 2020 and is expected to be completed by the end of March 2021. The dewatering system and dismantling work will be terminated by early September 2021.
