Sika continues to expand production in growth market India

Sika is opening a new plant in Kharagpur, eastern India, and continues to expand production capacity in the fast-growing Indian market. The plant will manufacture mortar products, concrete admixtures, and shotcrete accelerators for customers in the West Bengal region, which has more than 100 million inhabitants.

Skanska awarded additional GBP 103M towards works on the high-speed railway HS2 in UK

Skanska, as part of the Skanska Costain Strabag joint venture, has been awarded an additional GBP 103M, about SEK 1.3 billion, under the existing contract with HS2 Ltd towards works on phase one of the new high-speed railway in the UK. This will be included in the order bookings for Europe in the second quarter of 2023. The award relates to planned and agreed changes to the scope of works under the contract.

Ready to dig HS2's Bromford Tunnel

We’re ready to dig HS2’s Bromford Tunnel, between Water Orton in North Warwickshire and Washwood Heath in Birmingham. This is the fourth twin bore railway tunnel to start construction on Britain’s biggest infrastructure project. The 3.5 mile tunnel will take high speed trains into Birmingham as they approach Curzon Street Station in the heart of the city.

First steel beams arrive for low-carbon Wendover viaduct

The first of 38 steel beams that will form the innovative low-carbon structure of HS2’s Wendover Dean Viaduct have completed their 560-mile journey to site ahead of the start of deck construction. Over the summer, engineers will assemble the beams into the first of five 90m long spans, ready to be pushed out onto the viaduct piers later this year.

Over 1km of record-breaking Colne Valley Viaduct complete

One year after the launch of HS2’s giant ‘bridge-building machine’, progress on the UK’s longest railway bridge has taken another major step forward with the completion of the first piers that will carry the viaduct over a series of lakes just outside London. The Colne Valley Viaduct will carry high speed trains more than two miles across the Grand Union Canal, River Colne, local roads and a series of lakes between the end of the London tunnels and the start of the Chiltern tunnels.

£13.4m awarded to community projects

We’ve awarded £13,445,843 to 236 community projects From London to Crewe over the last six years. The latest figures are revealed in Groundwork UK’s 2023 annual report, which also confirms that £2,023,171 has been awarded to 39 projects between London and Crewe in the last 12 months.

Cimic´s UGL and CPB Contractors awarded early works extension for Copperstring 2032 in Queensland

Cimic Group’s UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded an early works contract by Powerlink for the CopperString 2032 project in North Queensland. The $20 million early works package will cover detailed engineering design, field surveys, geotechnical surveys and geotechnical works.
