Pula on the move in Mozambique and Malawi

In an effort to expand its presence in the critical minerals space for EV batteries and other green energy uses, Pula is positioning itself to expand its holdings beyond its graphite assets in Tanzania. Starting with conversations that began in March, which culminated in a visit to Mozambique in May, the Pula Group has completed the initial steps in setting up the Pula Group Mozambique.
Pula President Dr. Stith, in commenting on Pula’s move into Mozambique said, “our interest in Mozambique was piqued for a number of reasons. There are areas that are highly prospective for lithium, nickel, and rare earths, all of which would go a long way to rounding out our portfolio of resources. Also, given the proximity of some of these resources to what will be our shipping operation out of Mtwara, doing exploration and mining in Mozambique is a natural.”
In May of this year, Ambassador Stith met with Malawi Mining Minister Monica Chang’anamuno at the Malawi Investment Forum (MIF) which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from May 24th to 25th at the Emperor’s Palace Conference Center. The forum was organised by the Malawi Consulate in South Africa in conjunction with the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC).
The result of the May meeting was a visit by Pula’s Chairman and President in June. “I know Malawi well,” said the Pula Chairman, “two of its former presidents, Bakili Muluzi and Bingu wa Mutharika, I counted as friends and through my philanthropic initiatives, I’ve had an excellent working relationship with former president Joyce Banda. I look forward to working with President Lazarus Chakwera and Minister Monica Chang’anamuno to further unlock Malawi’s enormous potential.”
