Swedish Proplate releases record sales also thanks to German business

Swedish Proplate releases record sales also thanks to German business (credits: Proplate)
Proplate Oxelösund AB, Swedish manufacturer of complex steel parts and assemblies for the construction and special vehicle industries, has achieved record sales of SEK 429 million (around EUR 36 million) in the past fiscal year. In SEK terms, this represents an increase of around 18% on the previous year and a doubling within the last three years. Exports accounted for 72 percent of sales (previous year: 60). In Germany, the general increase in investments in infrastructure and wind turbines has been a factor in business success. For example, cranes for which Proplate produces and supplies retaining rods and high-strength components are used for wind power plants and bridge construction. But Proplate has also benefited worldwide from the demand for high-quality steel components for cranes and other end products.
Proplate's focus on long-term partnerships with existing customers who share the company's values has also contributed significantly to its success. In particular, these include customers from the lifting segment such as Liebherr (several plants) and Manitowoc. By further expanding these partnerships, Proplate has been able to grow and develop together with its customers. In addition, new customer relationships were established, particularly in the USA and Europe. In Germany, too, new customers were acquired last year or negotiations for cooperation are at an advanced stage.
To support this expansion strategy, Proplate invested in its production facilities during the past fiscal year, such as the expansion of its paint shop, as well as in new office and training facilities to support its internal training program.
Despite the challenges posed by material shortages resulting from Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and general increases in the cost of electricity, transportation, steel and packaging materials, the company has managed to prove economically robust. One metric that underscores this is the increased volume of cut steel processed between 2020 and 2022, which rose by about 33 percent from 9000 to 12000 tons.
"Given all the challenges during the fiscal year, we are very pleased with the result," says Max Björk, CEO of Proplate. And Kristina Sailer, Regional Sales Manager DACH, adds, "Despite the difficult overall global situation, we are positive about the future. We look forward to a continued sustainable development of Proplate."
