The Austrian research study RCC2 (reduced carbon concrete) investigated the potential of innovative concrete mix designs to decarbonise concrete. The broad-based consortium tested ways of establishing CO₂-reduced and even climate-neutral concrete as the new state of the art.

Costain announces new Transportation Managing Director

Costain announces that Jonathan Willcock is joining the company as its new managing director of the Transportation Division.

Jonathan has a wealth of experience in infrastructure. For the last three years he has been the managing director of Skanska UK’s Infrastructure Division, working to increase revenue and market share in sectors including highways and rail.

Prior to that, Jonathan spent seven years as the managing director of Alstom Transport UK’s Systems, Signalling and Infrastructure Division, growing the business and winning key work on maintenance and renewals from Network Rail.

Alex Vaughan, Costain’s chief executive officer, commented, “I’m delighted that Jonathan has chosen to join Costain at such an exciting time. Infrastructure will play a significant part in how we respond to the challenges of climate change and boosting economic growth. I know that the addition of Jonathan to our Executive team will help Costain contribute positively to these challenges and support the growth and diversification of our services across the Transportation market.”

Jonathan added, “Costain has a leading reputation within the infrastructure industry and I’ve always enjoyed working with them on collaborative projects. The breadth of Costain’s service offering is a unique selling point, and I’m looking forward to building on our relationships with our Transportation customers and showing how we can meet their needs.”

Jonathan Willcock will join Costain in early April. David Taylor remains Interim Managing Director for Transportation pending Jonathan joining in April.
