Anneri Robinson named one of the Women in Rail Award Winners for 2022 by the International Railway Journal
Anneri recognized for her experienced leadership, proven contributions to the industry, and dedicated involvement in the community
Anneri Robinson, a rail and transit systems and operational lead at Hatch was awarded one of the Women in Rail Awards for 2022 by International Railway Journal. This is the first year the International Railway Journal chose to recognize and reward women who are making great impacts in and outside of the rail industry, and who constantly strive to better their communities.
With over 30 years in the industry, Anneri supports and mentors young women engineers and strives to continually better her community. Her passion for helping young women on their path to becoming great engineers is proven through her involvement and commitment to multiple programs, including the SheEngineers and Individual One-on-One Mentoring as well as forums such as the Women at Hatch mentoring circle and the 4-10 Cohort Mentoring program, a career development and management mentor group. During the pandemic, Anneri took it upon herself to create a food and clothing drive to distribute collected items to underprivileged communities in Gauteng.
Anneri was named the Dynamic Simulation lead and subsequently the Rail lead for Hatch’s Africa, Europe, Middle East (AEM) region in recognition of her valued contributions to the industry. She has led many teams to win rail and transit projects for Hatch, including numerous appointments related to South Africa’s largest transit project in recent years—the Gautrain express rail system. Equipped with extensive expertise, she built a model prototype for a manganese export line as part of the successfully executed 5 million tonne per annum export rail line.
As a highly respected figure in the South African Rail Community of Practice and across the industry as a whole, Anneri has presented numerous papers at conferences, ranging in theme from network modelling to people and change management. Her unique engagement approach, dedication, and proven attention to detail position Anneri as an industry leader, widely known for her high-quality performance and trusted expertise. Anneri’s strong leadership qualities and experience made her a crucial member of Hatch’s leadership team.
“There is no one more deserving than Anneri Robinson for the Women in Rail Award. She consistently uses her skills and experience to help nurture young engineers and her innovation has always been key to finding solutions and overcoming challenges. Anneri is a leader, a mentor, and a friend who has and will continue to make a positive change in the industry,” shared Craig Simmer, regional director of Infrastructure, Hatch.
