Research Project Deep Sea Sampling nominated for the Bauma Innovation Award in the Research Category
Whether copper, cobalt or rare-earth metals, the global demand for these and other raw materials is tremendous and will continue to grow in the coming years. This development is accelerated by major trends such as electrification and the energy revolution. To cover the demand for raw materials, existing capacities must be expanded, and new deposits developed.

Metso Outotec engaged by TNG in Australia for a hydrogen-based Concentrate Reduction Study

No fossil fuels required for reduction of fines (credits: Metso Outotec)
TNG Limited, an Australian resource company, has awarded Metso Outotec a study to reduce Mount Peake Ti-V magnetite concentrate using CircoredT technology, which uses hydrogen as its only reductant source.
As part of the study, Metso Outotec will perform a techno-economic assessment to integrate CircoredTM technology into TNG´s innovative TIVAN process that provides for the extraction of high-quality products from Ti-V magnetite ore bodies.
Metso Outotec has been granted this assignment following the positive test work performed for TNG which confirmed the applicability of hydrogen-based reduction for Mount Peake Ti-V magnetite concentrate. Now, it will further define the process flowsheet for the Mount Peake Project and prepare a preliminary capital cost and operating cost (+/-30%) for a Circored Plant.
CircoredTM, part of Metso Outotec’s Planet Positive portfolio, is a process that uses hydrogen as the sole reducing agent in the reduction of fine ores, enabling carbon neutrality for metal processing plants.
