Metso Outotec celebrated the inauguration of a new engineering center at Vadodara, Gujarat, in India, on January 17, 2023. The center will be continuously developed with the goal to expand its key capabilities in serving customers.
Currently, the engineering center employs more than 90 persons; the new facility is set to grow in a short period of time to more than 250 specialists covering several functions and capabilities, including engineering for various products, modernizations and upgrades, quotation support, logistics, procurement, and training and learning professionals.
“I am very excited to enter the new stage of Vadodara and Metso Outotec’s investment with this expansion. We decided two years ago to consolidate certain engineering capabilities to Vadodara. Now, with the new purpose-built facility, we are ready for the rapid expansion of our support to our customers and answer to their growing needs around the world,” says Sami Takaluoma, President, Services business area at Metso Outotec.
Combining the engineering expertise for equipment, to support a wide variety of products in one location better serves customers and enables cross-functional best practices and knowledge sharing across the different functions.
“We have already found many qualified and experienced candidates to join us. The quality of education in India is very good, and as a global company, we can offer broad career opportunities for individuals to progress and experience in being part of some of our key operations. We will put a special focus on having a supportive and engaging working culture where everyone can develop and reach their full potential,” Takaluoma continues.
In addition to the new engineering center in the Gujarat state, Metso Outotec has two foundries in Vadodara and Ahmedabad producing high-quality consumables and spare parts. The foundries employ around 700 persons.

Rediscovering carbon – Bauer Resources participates in Carbo-FORCE
Carbon is one of the most important building blocks of life. It serves as the basis of all natural materials and forms numerous bonds. When forests die, for example, CO2 enters the atmosphere and is bound by plants or rivers somewhere else. As a result, carbon is simply everywhere. And there's now more of it in the air than the natural cycle is able to neutralize. Carbo-Force GmbH has a strategy to counteract this: This startup from the northern German town of Preetz has developed groundbreaking plant for the carbonization of biomass. On January 1, 2023, Bauer Resources GmbH acquired 50% of the company's shares.
