World Bank Sanctions Board's Decision relating to a Pöyry Subsidiary

The World Bank Sanctions Board has issued a decision imposing a one (1) year sanction on Pöyry Finland Oy, a subsidiary company of Pöyry PLC. The decision means that Pöyry Finland Oy (including its subsidiary companies) cannot participate in World Bank Group financed projects for a period of one (1) year from 30 September 2015. Neither Pöyry PLC nor any other subsidiary companies of Pöyry PLC are affected by this sanction, and remain eligible to participate in World Bank Group financed projects.


Skanska to improve Highway in Finland

Skanska has together with Pöyry and Ramboll signed an agreement with The Finnish Transport Agency on the improvement of Highway 6 between Taavetti and Lappeenranta. The total value is EUR 76 M. Skanska’s share is EUR 67 M, about SEK 630 M, which will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Finland in the third quarter 2015.

Specim, Spectral Imaging Oy Ltd., a pioneer and global leader in hyperspectral imaging instruments and systems, has received 5,3 M€ of financing to ensure its growth. The financing package consists of venture capital financing by Teknoventure Oy of Oulu, Finland, and R&D financing by Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation.


Pöyry appointed new President and CEO

The Board of Directors of Pöyry PLC has appointed Martin à Porta (M. Sc. Eng.), 44, as the new President and CEO of Pöyry PLC. He will take up the position latest on 1 February, 2016. Alexis Fries will continue as President and CEO until Martin à Porta takes up his position.


Sandvik to close Unit in Finland

Sandvik has decided to close the site in Turku, Finland and optimize the site in Tampere, Finland. This is in line with the previously communicated announcement on 26 March 2015 that consultations were going to be initiated.


Boliden: New Nickel Strategy

Boliden will launch an independent nickel smelting business, buying nickel concentrates from external suppliers and selling nickel matte to nickel refineries. The annual production is estimated to remain at 25,000 tonnes of nickel in matte.

  • Gold production 210.9 kg (228.5) or -8 % mainly due to head grade and recovery
  • Revenues 47.8 MSEK (54.1) or -12 %
  • Improved EBITDA before unrealized losses on derivatives to 6.9 MSEK (3.8 )
  • Profit after tax was -5.5 MSEK (-9.0)
  • Earnings per share -0.06 SEK (-0.10)
  • Pampalo OPEX/milled ore tonne decreased by 17 % to 415 SEK (498), Cash Cost below 1,000 USD/oz
  • Cash flow was 0.8 MSEK (-16.4) and ending cash balance amounted to 34.6 MSEK
  • The Board of Directors decided on a rights issue totalling approximately 96 MSEK at full subscribtion
  • The issue is secured to 80 per cent by subscription undertakings and underwriting commitments at which level Nordea Bank Finland has agreed to postpone loan amortizations until 2016-2017
  • The issue is subject to approval by the extraordinary general meeting to be held on Oct 30, 2014
