Glencore and HNA establish HG Storage International Ltd.

Glencore plc ("Glencore") announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with HNA Innovation Finance Group Co., Ltd. ("HNA") for HNA to purchase a 51% equity interest in Glencore's petroleum products storage and logistics business for US$775 million, payable in cash upon closing, subject to customary closing adjustments (the "Transaction").

New strategic Partnership between Glencore and Qatar Investment Authority relating to Rosneft

Glencore and QIA have concluded various agreements which provide for the establishment of a 50:50 consortium (the Consortium).

The Consortium has entered into agreements in connection with the further privatisation of Rosneft whereby the Consortium will acquire from Rostneftegaz a 19.5% interest in the issued share capital of Rosneft (the Shares) for €10.2 billion (the Consideration). Under the proposed arrangements, Glencore will commit €300 million in equity (the Glencore Equity) and QIA will commit €2.5 billion in equity to the Consortium with the balance of the consideration for the acquisition of the Shares to be provided by non-recourse bank financing, principally by Intesa Sanpaolo S.pA., with Russian banks also providing financing and credit support.

Glencore2016 Half-Year Production Report

Production highlights

  • Production, as expected, was down period-on-period in commodities where we previously announced, and are delivering on, proactive supply reductions (copper, zinc, lead, coal and oil).
  • Own sourced copper production of 703,000 tonnes was 4% down on H1 2015, due to the previously announced curtailments at our African operations, partly offset by generally higher grades in South America.

Yamal Megaproject in Russia: First Cargo of Oil shipped from Arctic Gate Offshore Terminal

An event marking the start of the year-round shipments of Yamal oil from the Arctic Gate (Vorota Arktiki), an Arctic oil loading terminal, took place in the Mys Kamenny settlement (Yamal Peninsula, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area). The event was attended by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Alexander Dyukov, Chief Executive Officer of Gazprom Neft.

Hejre Platform: Dong Energy and Bayerngas Norge terminate the EPC Contract with Supplier Consortium

Dong Energy and Bayerngas no longer have confidence in the supplier consortium’s ability to deliver the platform and hold the consortium in material breach of its contractual obligations. On this basis, Dong Energy and Bayerngas Norge have given notice to terminate the EPC contract with the supplier consortium for cause with immediate effect. This means that the platform will not be completed and that the Hejre project in its current form will be stopped.

ADNOC and Wintershall sign Memorandum of Understanding for joint Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery Research

At the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the German E&P company Wintershall signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding future cooperation in research and development. The project focuses on Enhanced Oil Recovery using specialized chemicals for the oil and gas industry. Main goal of ADNOC and Wintershall is to jointly develop customized solutions to meet the subsurface challenges that are characteristic for the local oil fields – high temperature and high salinity in the carbonate reservoirs of Abu Dhabi. The MoU forms the framework for a close cooperation of the two companies and comprises a roadmap for the development of cEOR methods.

BG Group starts up sixth FPSO in the Santos Basin, Offshore Brazil

BG Group (LSE: BG.L), a world leader in exploration and LNG, today announced first oil from the Cidade de Itaguaí floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, the sixth unit to start production across the Group's significant discoveries in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil. The FPSO will produce from the Iracema North area of the Lula field in the Petrobras-operated BM-S-11 block.
