Endeavour to combine with Semafo to create a leading West African Gold Producer

Endeavour Mining Corporation (TSX: EDV) (OTCQX: EDVMF) ("Endeavour") and SEMAFO Inc. (TSX: SMF) (OMX: SMF) ("SEMAFO") announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement whereby Endeavour will acquire all of the issued and outstanding securities of SEMAFO by way of a Plan of Arrangement under the Business Corporations Act. The Transaction will create a top 15 global gold producer and the largest in West Africa with six operations and an attractive growth pipeline.

Debswana announces Change of Managing Director

Debswana Diamond Company announced that Managing Director Mr Balisi Bonyongo will retire from the business with effect from 30 November 2018, following 26 years of dedicated service to the organisation. The Shareholders of Debswana have appointed Mr Albert Milton, currently General Manager of Jwaneng Mine, to take over as the Company’s Managing Director with effect from 1 December 2018. The Shareholders have requested Balisi to stay on for three months as a consultant to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

South Africa: Juwi to construct and operate 250 MW solar PV in REIPPPP Round 4 Projects

Juwi Renewable Energies has concluded three Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) contracts, with a combined value of R3bn, with African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), Africa’s largest and most experienced infrastructure-focused private equity fund manager and a member of Old Mutual Alternative Investments. This will deliver 250 MW of additional solar PV electricity to South Africa’s power grid over the coming few years.

Herrenknecht Borer secures Power Supply in West Africa

In late July 2017, Coleman Microtunnelling, a subsidiary of Bothar Group Australia, successfully completed tunnelling for two power plant cooling water lines in Ghana with a Herrenknecht utility tunnelling machine. The new oil-gas power plant puts the supply of electricity for people and business for the country on the West African Atlantic coast on a more solid foundation.

Glencore plc announce that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Trevali Mining Corporation, whereby Trevali will purchase Glencore's 80% interest in the Rosh Pinah mine in Namibia and 90% interest in the Perkoa mine in Burkina Faso.

Kamoa Copper Project: New metallurgical Tests of Core Drills indicate easy Processing and good Recovery

  • Excellent copper recoveries and concentrate grades confirmed by preliminary metallurgical tests of drill core from Kakula Discovery at the Kamoa Project in D.R. Congo
  • Results indicate copper mineralization from Kamoa’s Kakula and Kansoko zones to be processed through the same concentrator
