BAM-Alstom Joint Venture selected as preferred Tenderer for PPP Project Tram Line Liège

SRWT (Société Régionale Wallonne du Transport) has selected the Mobiliège joint venture as preferred tenderer for the tram line project in Liege. Mobiliège is formed by BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure cooperative, Alstom and DG Infra + BAM Galère (the operating company that realizes construction and civil projects in Wallonia) is involved for the civil and building works. Other BAM companies involved are BAM Track, Betonac, BAM FM and BAM Maintenance.

Galloper Offshore Wind Farm announces first preferred Supplier

Galloper Offshore Wind Farm has appointed a UK based consortium as its preferred supplier of its Electrical System. Alstom and Petrofac, which comprises Alstom based in Staffordshire and Petrofac in Aberdeen, will provide the onshore and offshore substations and onshore cabling with around 300 jobs being secured in the UK as part of the construction of these components.

Alstom to build and modernise Flue Gas Desulphurisation [FGD] units for Combined Heat and Power Plant in Poland

Alstom and Dalkia Poznań ZEC have signed two contracts for the construction of new Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) units for two steam boilers and for the modernisation of an existing boiler unit. All three boilers are operated by Dalkia at EC Karolin, which is the biggest combined heat and power plant in Poznań, western Poland. The total value of the two contracts is approximately €27.5M (115 MPLN). Construction and modernisation of the FGD units for all three boilers are due in 2015.

Alstom and Arabian Bemco to set up a joint venture to manufacture power generation equipment for the Middle East

Alstom and Arabian Bemco Contracting Co. Ltd have signed an agreement to create a joint venture (JV) company, Alstom Arabia Power Factory Ltd, which will establish a world-class manufacturing facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for power generation components, primarily heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) which are used in combined cycle and cogeneration applications to increase thermal cycle efficiency and minimise fuel consumption. In the second phase, the partners envision expanding the scope of the factory to manufacture other power generation equipment.

Alstom inaugurates its largest hydropower industrial site in Tianjin, China

Alstom’s largest hydropower industrial site was inaugurated in Tianjin, China on September 17, 2013 in the presence of Patrick Kron, Chairman and CEO of Alstom, and Jérôme Pécresse, President of Alstom’s Renewable Power Sector. With an investment of €100 million on this new facility, Alstom aims to further tap into China’s increasing hydropower needs and grow its hydropower business throughout the region.

First tonne of CO2 captured in Le Havre for ADEME, Alstom and EDF

CO2 capture tests were initiated at Alstom’s and EDF’s research demonstration unit, which was selected for funding by the ADEME in 2010, with the capture of the first tonne of CO2 June, 11th. Funded at 25% by the ADEME’s research demonstration fund, this €22 million investment is part of the EDF Group’s determination to invest in research and innovation towards reducing the environmental impact from power stations that use fossil sources of energy.

American Electric Power Selects Alstom for D.C. Cook Unit 2 Nuclear Plant Steam Turbine Retrofit in Michigan

Alstom has been awarded a contract to provide steam turbine retrofit services for unit 2 of American Electric Power’s D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman, Michigan. The project includes the manufacture, supply and installation of a new high pressure (HP) turbine module and three low pressure (LP) inner blocks for the nuclear steam turbine of the plant’s unit 2. Alstom recently executed the successful retrofit of D.C. Cook nuclear power plant unit 1.
