Boliden to acquire Kevitsa Mine in Finland

Boliden today announces that it has entered into an agreement with First Quantum to acquire the Kevitsa nickel-copper-gold-PGM mine in Northern Finland. The total consideration on a debt free basis is USD 712 million in cash. The agreement is subject to approval by competition authorities.


Board Composition Proposal by Boliden’s Nomination Committee

Boliden’s Nomination Committee will propose to the Annual General Meeting of shareholders, to be held on 3 May 2016, that Pekka Vauramo is elected as a new Member of the Board, and that current Board Members Marie Berglund, Tom Erixon, Lennart Evrell, Ulla Litzén, Michael G:son Löw, Elisabeth Nilsson and Anders Ullberg are re-elected. Anders Ullberg is further proposed to be re-elected as Chairman of the Board. Staffan Bohman has declined re-election.


Boliden Q3 2015 Interim Report: Strong performance by Smelters

“Boliden has posted a healthy result for the quarter with a particularly strong performance by our smelters. Market terms with sharp falls in metal prices were the big challenge during the quarter, but a robust cash flow, good balance sheet and advantageous metal mix mean that Boliden is well positioned in a turbulent time for the metals sector,” says Boliden’s President & CEO, Lennart Evrell.


Boliden: New Nickel Strategy

Boliden will launch an independent nickel smelting business, buying nickel concentrates from external suppliers and selling nickel matte to nickel refineries. The annual production is estimated to remain at 25,000 tonnes of nickel in matte.

“ 2013 was a tough year, market-wise, with lower prices for metals and a weaker US dollar exchange rate. Boliden’s production however, was good, taking into account the large scale, planned maintenance shutdowns that we carried out.

We have focused heavily on the expansion projects and on process stability and safety work – all areas that will continue to be of major importance for us in 2014.”


AricaVictims KB’s writ of summons against Boliden - Deliveries of smelting residues to Chile during the mid 1980's

On 16 September 2013 the company Arica Victims KB filed a writ of summons against Boliden Mineral AB before the district court of Skellefteå. The claim amounts to approximately SEK 90 million plus interest and relates to deliveries of smelter sludge made from Boliden to the Chilean company PROMEL between the years 1984 -1985.
