STRABAG further expands Water Supply Network in Ghana
- Follow-up order ensures clean drinking water for another 89,000 people in the Volta region
- Contract value of € 11.5 million
The European-based construction group STRABAG has begun work on the further expansion of the water supply network in the Volta region around 160 km northeast of Ghana’s capital of Accra. The project will provide another 89,000 people with access to clean drinking water. The contract is worth around € 11.5 million and is scheduled for completion by July 2022.
GHH Mining Machines: A step up Down Under
The specialist for civil engineering and mining machinery GHH has set its sights on the Australian continent. An experienced partner is supporting the German manufacturer.
With its loaders, dump trucks and utility vehicles for rock logistics above and below ground, GHH has long been represented on many continents. Now the manufacturer, which is part of the Schmidt Kranz Group, is making the leap to the red continent. "We want to shorten the distance to our customers in Australia," says Global Sales Manager Ken Stapylton. "Contact before, during and after the purchase is important to us - after all, we are happy to supply tailor-made solutions".
Datwyler sells Civil Engineering Business to Management Team
Datwyler sold its civil engineering business to representatives of the existing management on 28 April 2020. The management buy-out is supported by the Hamburg-based private equity firm BPE, which specializes in transactions in the German mid-sized sector since over 20 years. The closing of the agreement is scheduled for 4 May 2020.
Implenia: Christian Späth to become new Head of Civil Engineering Division
Christian Späth (51) is taking over as Head of Division Civil Engineering at Implenia, Switzerland’s leading construction and construction services company, as of 1 January 2020. He also joins Group management on the same date as a Member of the Implenia Executive Committee.
Bontexgeo – New Ownership and new Name
On 3 September 2019 Low & Bonar PLC has announced that it has completed the sale of their civil engineering business, which includes the production facilities in Belgium and Hungary, to Nimbus, a Netherlands based private equity fund. This sale is in line with the strategy announced on July 11, 2018 to dispose of the civil engineering division in order to simplify their portfolio and improve their debt position.

Sika is further expanding its presence in West Africa and starting operations in a new facility for mortars in Cameroon. Following the foundation of the national subsidiary in 2016 and the opening of a concrete admixture plant in 2017, the company is now investing in a new mortar manufacturing facility.
Management Change at BAUER Maschinen GmbH: Rüdiger Kaub follows Dieter Stetter
After ten years at the top of BAUER Maschinen GmbH, Dieter Stetter will soon hand over the leadership in younger hands. The current Chairman of the Management Board, who has been working for Bauer since the early 1980s, has been instrumental in the sales of Bauer machinery in Asia. On December 1st, his successor will be Dr. Ruediger Kaub, who is to become a member of the board of directors of BAUER Maschinen GmbH as of October 1st. The 55-year-old mining engineer has many years of international experience in product management, sales and management.

Dätwyler mit deutlicher Gewinnsteigerung
Die Dätwyler Gruppe vermochte den Nettoumsatz im ersten Halbjahr 2016 um 7.3% auf CHF 621.1 Mio. zu steigern, wobei beide Konzernbereiche zum Wachstum beigetragen haben. Die EBIT-Marge hat sich weiter erhöht und hat mit 13.2% erstmals den oberen Wert des selbstgesetzten Zielbands übertroffen. Das Nettoergebnis stieg deutlich um 34.4% auf CHF 56.6 Mio. Für das Gesamtjahr ist Dätwyler zuversichtlich, mit dem bisherigen Geschäft das Umsatzziel von gegen CHF 1‘250 Mio. zu erreichen und operativ eine EBIT-Marge deutlich in der oberen Hälfte des Zielbands von 10 bis 13% zu erwirtschaften. Bezüglich dem bestehenden Übernahmeangebot für Premier Farnell prüft Dätwyler angesichts des höheren Angebots von Avnet derzeit das weitere Vorgehen und wird zu gegebener Zeit wieder dazu kommunizieren.
