Imerys accelerates its Development and concludes a Strategic Combination with S&B, a major Player in Industrial Minerals

Imerys announces a strategic combination for the integration of the main activities of S&B, a major player in industrial minerals held by the Kyriacopoulos founder family (61%) and Rhône Capital (39%). Through this operation, Imerys would accelerate its development by enlarging its specialties offer. The transaction, partially paid in Imerys shares, would rapidly create value for Imerys’ shareholders, based on a € 525 million equity value for 100% of the shares, increased by a performance amount not to exceed € 33 million. In this context, the Kyriacopoulos family, S&B’s shareholders for more than 80 years, would become stockholders of Imerys together with its controlling shareholder, GBL group.

Herrenknecht Tunnel Boring Machines are cutting Tunnels through the Hard Rock of the Pyrenees

Two high-tech Herrenknecht tunnel boring machines completed an endurance test with bravura during long-distance tunnelling through the Pyrenees. After a total of 8.2km tunnelling through hard rock, the target line was reached with the final breakthrough in April 2013. The resulting cross-border tunnel project will be used for a high-voltage line to connect the French and Spanish electricity network with each other.

First tonne of CO2 captured in Le Havre for ADEME, Alstom and EDF

CO2 capture tests were initiated at Alstom’s and EDF’s research demonstration unit, which was selected for funding by the ADEME in 2010, with the capture of the first tonne of CO2 June, 11th. Funded at 25% by the ADEME’s research demonstration fund, this €22 million investment is part of the EDF Group’s determination to invest in research and innovation towards reducing the environmental impact from power stations that use fossil sources of energy.

BASF combines businesses for water, oilfield and mining solutions to support growth strategies

BASF will combine its businesses with water solutions and oilfield and mining solutions effective April 1, 2013, to increase efficiency and support its growth strategies. The new global business unit will be located in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Oldham Launches OLCT 80 Wireless System

Oldham Launches OLCT 80 Wireless SystemOldham (an Industrial Scientific company) announced the launch of the OLCT 80 Wireless field detector and transmitter for monitoring of oxygen and combustible, toxic and refrigerant gases in remote locations.


The new model reduces installation costs by eliminating cabling and wiring. Up to 49 of the devices, each of which has three built-in relays and a maximum line-of-sight range of three kilometers (1.86 miles), can be linked via a secure network to monitor large remote areas, including ATEX 1 zones, where wired systems would be difficult to install.
