Salini Impregilo signs Contract for the Realization of Nenskra hydroelectric Project in Georgia

A new important work for Salini Impregilo in Georgia. The Group, in fact, has won an EPC contract worth $575 million for the design and construction of the Nenskra hydroelectric project in the mountainous region of Svaneti, in the northwest of the Country. The contract was signed at Tbilisi in the presence of Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, and its Minister of Energy, Kakha Kaladze, among others.

Italian Premier Matteo Renzi visits Gibe III Construction Site in Ethiopia

"Italian Pride": The Italian premier, Matteo Renzi, encouraged engineers and workers currently engaged in the construction of the Gibe III dam in the south west area of Ethiopia, a Salini Impregilo construction that is 246 meters tall and capable, through 2 galleries, to bring water to the hydroelectric plant that will produce 1870 megawatt of energy. Renzi highlighted that this amount of energy is equal to the energy produced by 2 nuclear plants.

The 25th ICOLD Annual Meeting & Congress (International Commission on Large Dams) took place from 13-20 June in Stavanger, Norway. Experts from the Lahmeyer Group companies Lahmeyer International, Lahmeyer Hydroprojekt, and Hidro Dizayn as well as from Tractebel Engineering participated in the congress.

Lahmeyer International supports Project Developers in Uganda

The Uganda Energy Credit Capitalisation Company (UECCC) promotes investments in the renewable energy sector in Uganda with support from KfW. Under the programme “Early Stage Transaction Advisory Services“, the UECCC follows the new approach to bring together government resources, investors, and development aid partners (e.g. KfW). UECCC especially provides financial, technical and logistical support in order to promote project development. Lahmeyer delivers technical assistance on behalf of UECCC.

Fourth Anniversary of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project

Just a few days after the agreement signed by Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam under construction the fourth anniversary of this flagship project was celebrated in the region of Benishangul-Gumaz along the Blue Nile in Ethiopia. The traditional celebrations of the 2nd April commemorate the inauguration ceremony of 2011 held in the presence of the Prime Minister at the time Meles Zenawi.

BAM contributes to Austrian Hydroelectric Power Station

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau, the German tunneling specialist of Royal BAM Group nv, has won a joint venture contract worth around € 14 million, for the construction of a turbine building as part of an hydroelectric power scheme in Austria. The power station is expected to be operational by 2018.

Opening of the River Diversion for the Laúca Hydropower Plant in Angola

Angola is undertaking an extensive investment programme in order to solve the country's energy supply problems. In the long term, the government is aiming to export electricity. The opening of the river diversion for the Laúca Hydropower Project in early September by the President of the Republic of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, marked a significant step forward. Lahmeyer supervised the project during its two-year construction phase.
