First piece of Work undertaken on Network Rail Design Services Framework

Mott MacDonald is undertaking its first piece of work for the new Network Rail Design Services Framework. The project is supporting the development of a new system to support degraded mode working on the railway during signalling system failures. The DMWS project is part of Network Rail’s Research & Development Portfolio – it’s £245M investment programme over CP6 to drive improvements to the safety, performance and efficiency of Britain’s railway infrastructure.

More than 370 experts and decision makers met at this year's MiningForum on 1 and 2 June to learn about the latest trends in the raw materials industry, exchange views and expand their network for future cooperation. With stronger than ever international participation, the event welcomed visitors from 18 countries, including Canada, Chile, Finland, Australia and Mongolia.


"Schrobenhausener Tage" Symposium on Renovation Projects, technical Innovations and changing Values


The "Schrobenhausener Tage" symposium was a complete success once again. Approximately 250 customers, partners and friends of the company accepted the invitation of Bauer Spezialtiefbau GmbH to attend the traditional "Schrobenhausener Tage" event in Schrobenhausen in mid-May. Dr. Tilo Klinner, director of foreign trade at Germany's Foreign Office, was among the guests. This year was the first time that attendees, who had traveled from all over Germany, were welcomed by Arnulf Christa, the new Managing Director of Bauer Spezialtiefbau GmbH. In keeping with a long-standing tradition, Walter Haus, member of the Management Board and head of the domestic business unit at Bauer Spezialtiefbau, hosted the event.


Feierliche Eröffnung des EIT RawMaterials – Regional Center Freiberg

Am 20. Oktober eröffneten der Staatssekretär im Sächsischen Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst, Uwe Gaul, und der Rektor der TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht, das EIT RawMaterials – Regional Center Freiberg. Mit dem lokalen Büro wollen die Freiberger Wissenschaftseinrichtungen die regionale Vernetzung sowie die akademische Ausbildung im Rohstoffbereich fördern.

International Raw Materials Conference in Germany

The Competence Centre for Mining and Mineral Resources within the Canadian German Chamber attended the International Raw Materials Conference on November 10/11, 2015, in Berlin.

Hosted and organized by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) the conference titled, “Assuming Responsibility – Promoting Sustainability in the Raw Materials Sector”, was meant to provoke and encourage discussion.


IHK Ruhr: Seminar "Mining Worldwide – Together with the gloabal Mining Network”


The Competence Centre for Mining & Minerals Resources Canada conducted a one-day seminar together with other Competence Centres from Chile, Brazil, South Africa and Australia to inform German suppliers and buyers about each mining market. Most important stakeholders – the German Mineral Resources Agency (DERA), the German Federation of International Mining and Mineral Resources (FAB) and the Federal German Engineering Association (VDMA) participated in the event.
