Juwi: PV Hybrid Project on the Great Barrier Reef

On the 30th of August 2018 Juwi Renewable Energy signed an agreement with the University of Queensland to deliver a high penetration solar, battery hybrid power solution at the Heron Island Research Station located in the Great Barrier Reef under an EPC contract. The project consists of a 500kW roof top installation combined with a 0.6MWh vanadium flow battery integrated with diesel generators using a microgrid control system. This project is expected to deliver over 80% of the research facilities annual electricity needs and be operational in mid-2019.

South Africa: Juwi to construct and operate 250 MW solar PV in REIPPPP Round 4 Projects

Juwi Renewable Energies has concluded three Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) contracts, with a combined value of R3bn, with African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), Africa’s largest and most experienced infrastructure-focused private equity fund manager and a member of Old Mutual Alternative Investments. This will deliver 250 MW of additional solar PV electricity to South Africa’s power grid over the coming few years.

Cimic's UGL wins Power Contract

Cimic Group company UGL has been awarded a contract with ElectraNet Pty Ltd to design, build and commission high voltage substations and transmission lines that will connect the Prominent Hill Mine to the South Australian electricity grid, continuing Cimic Group’s long-standing involvement with the mine.

Major Power Station Conversion taking Shape

With enough reinforced steel for one quarter of the Eiffel Tower and enough concrete for 57 highway bridges, the conversion of Skærbæk Power Station is well under way. Over the weekend, the power station’s neighbours had the chance to see the construction work up close. Heavy-duty steel elements have just been shipped by sea from India directly to Skærbæk Power Station’s own quay. They will be used to build the new wood chip boilers, which from 2017 will enable Skærbæk Power Station to use wood chips instead of gas.
