Australia: Program Launch to help Women succeed in Resources Sector

A program to help women develop their careers in Queensland’s resources sector begins in Brisbane tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Women in Resources Mentoring Program will be officially launched tomorrow night by BHP Billiton (BHPB) Asset President Rag Udd and Leanne Enoch MP, Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and Minister for Small Business, who will be representing the Premier.


Queensland's Exploration Plan provides Certainty and clear Vision for Explorers

Queensland’s peak resources sector body has welcomed news of more consistency in the release of land for exploration by the Queensland Government. Minister for State Development and Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham released the first annual exploration program, which sets out 826 square kilometres of land to be made available through competitive tender for minerals, coal, and petroleum and gas exploration over the next 12 months.

QRC: Curtis Pitt Support welcome

The Queensland Resources Council welcomes the clarification from the Queensland Treasurer Curtis Pitt on ABC radio this morning that the government supports the development of the Galilee Basin.

I was rather puzzled and concerned by the story in The Courier Mail this morning suggesting that Mr Pitt was nonchalant about the Carmichael Mine going ahead and instead suggesting that aged care, health and disability jobs could replace highly paid, skilled mining jobs.


QRC: Resources Sector troubled by MP’s Mining Attack

Queensland’s peak resources sector body says it is deeply troubled by the unjustified attack on the coal mining industry by the Member for Mirani Jim Pearce in parliament yesterday.

QRC Chief Executive Michael Roche says the sector has been working well with the Palaszczuk government and has sought an assurance from the Premier that Mr Pearce’s views are not shared by herself and her ministers.
