First piece of Work undertaken on Network Rail Design Services Framework

Mott MacDonald is undertaking its first piece of work for the new Network Rail Design Services Framework. The project is supporting the development of a new system to support degraded mode working on the railway during signalling system failures. The DMWS project is part of Network Rail’s Research & Development Portfolio – it’s £245M investment programme over CP6 to drive improvements to the safety, performance and efficiency of Britain’s railway infrastructure.

Skanska builds Railway in Vestfold, Norway

Skanska has signed a contract with Sa.Pi. NOR for ground works on the northern parcel of a new railway route in Vestfold county, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 330 M, about SEK 330 M, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter 2020.

Costain confirms that its joint venture company, Skanska Costain Strabag, (“SCSJV”) has been granted notice to proceed by High Speed Two (HS2) Limited to commence full detailed design and construction of Phase 1 of the HS2 railway in area south as part of the Main Works Civils Contract.

Naples-Bari High-Speed Railyway in Italy: Salini Impregilo and Astaldi work on Project in full Respect of Safety Protocols

Work continues on the high-speed railway between Naples and Bari currently under construction and involving Salini Impregilo and Astaldi, two protagonists of Progetto Italia, a project to create Webuild, a large group able to compete more effectively on international markets. At a time of national emergency with the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), work on the Naples-Cancello section of the railway is going ahead with a workforce of 200 people and the support of subcontractors from various parts of Italy in full respect of the measures put in place to prevent infection.

Salini Impregilo enters Norway: Group wins Railway Contract

Salini Impregilo enters the Norwegian market for the first time with the signing of a €388-million civil works contract to upgrade a 13.6-kilometre section of a rail line between the towns of Nykirke and Barkaker south of Oslo. The contract is the latest effort by the Group to expand in countries that are investing in infrastructure and carry a lower risk profile, such as Australia and the United States.

Implenia wins major infrastructure order in Sweden

  • Detailed planning and execution of twin-track rail expansion between Varberg and Hamra, including tunnel beneath city of Varberg
  • Order worth approximately SEK 3.5 billion (around CHF 355 million)

Implenia has won a major contract in Sweden for the twin-track expansion of the railway line between Varberg and Hamra on the country’s west coast.

SNC-Lavalin appointed on major PMO Contract on Australia’s largest Rail Programme

SNC-Lavalin announces that it has secured a significant contract to provide Programme Management Office (PMO) services on the Inland Rail Programme, supporting global professional services company Turner & Townsend. It’s the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and a once-in-a-generation programme of infrastructure works connecting regional Australia to domestic and international markets.
