Fugro integrates and rebrands UK based geotechnical Specialists

UK geotech companies restructured as Fugro GeoServices Ltd. The renaming completes the integration of key UK specialists – Fugro Seacore, Fugro Engineering Services, EM Drilling, Fugro Loadtest, Fugro Instrumentation & Monitoring and Fugro Aperio. Renamed to reflect the depth and diversity of its offering, Fugro GeoServices Ltd employs close to 600 staff and undertakes seven key activities: nearshore geotechnical, offshore geotechnical, marine installation, onshore ground investigation, cone penetration testing, geophysics and instrumentation and monitoring. The company also has geotechnical laboratories and carries out a range of built environment surveys and testing.


vedanta: BALCO starts to shut down its Aluminium Rolling Mill

  • Falling global prices, high energy costs make operations unviable
  • BALCO has sought permission from the Government of India to close the unit by December 8, 2015.
  • The move will result in loss of around 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a subsidiary of Vedanta Limited has begun the official procedure to close down its Sheet Rolling Division and Foundry at Korba, Chhattisgarh.


ThyssenKrupp achieved Operating Targets and raised its Forecast

The industrial and technology group ThyssenKrupp achieved its operating targets in the 2nd quarter and in the 1st half of fiscal year 2014/2015 and has specified and raised its forecast for the full year. Sales, adjusted EBIT and free cash flow in the reporting period increased in part significantly. “Our measures to improve efficiency are working and we are moving forward with the transformation of the Group. The further earnings improvement reflects our stronger performance focus,” says ThyssenKrupp CEO Dr. Heinrich Hiesinger.


Grontmij reports weak Start of the Year

Grontmij N.V., a listed consulting & engineering company with strong European presence, announced its results for the first quarter of 2015. Despite modest signs of recovery across Europe, Grontmij’s markets remain fragile particularly in the Netherlands. The year started out weak, especially in January and February, with an organic decline in the first quarter on total revenue of 1.7%. EBITA excluding exceptional items in Q1 2015 of € 3.4 million (Q1 2014: € 7.0 million) was impacted by lower results in the Netherlands and Denmark. On 31 March 2015 Grontmij completed the divestment of Parera, one of its French subsidiaries. Grontmij continues the divestment process of its remaining French operations, and intends to complete the French divestment process in 2015.


Vattenfall’s first Quarter 2015: Profit after Tax of SEK 5.0 Billion

Lower production volumes and continued falling electricity prices had a negative effect on Vattenfall’s earnings during the first quarter. The work towards a more sustainable energy portfolio continued, and wind power made up the single largest investment area during the quarter. New personnel reduction measures will affect approximately 1,000 full-time equivalents.
