Fugro completed a Piping Research Project in Cooperation with the Friesland Water Authority and Deltares

The research investigated the erosion of tidal sand in protective sea-dikes along the Wadden Sea coast in the Dutch province of Friesland and represents a significant development in the Dutch Flood Protection Programme. Water seeping through the dike has the potential to develop tiny channels (piping) that wash sand away and could cause the dike to fail. This critical research aims to identify conditions that influence this mode of dike failure, particularly during periods of high water.

Dennoch drohen gerade bei wichtigen Baurohstoffen auf dem heimischen Markt aktuell erhebliche Versorgungsengpässe, wie eine neue Kurzstudie der Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR) zeigt. Unter dem Titel „Sand – auch in Deutschland bald knapp?“ berichten die BGR-Experten in der jüngsten Ausgabe der Commodity TopNews (Nr. 56) über die zunehmenden Schwierigkeiten bei der Gewinnung dieses Massenrohstoffs in Deutschland.

Glenwood Pit serves as proving Ground for new Superior Products

 

Situated right outside of Glenwood, MN, 36 miles away from Hancock Concrete’s headquarters, the Glenwood Pit is the source of rock product for the company’s concrete production. Hancock Concrete, which turns 100 years old this year, designs and fabricates precast concrete box culverts, round and arch pipe, manhole structures, and bridges. In 2011, the company was acquired by nearby Superior Industries, located in Morris, MN. Superior, a manufacturing company founded in 1972 by Neil Schmidgall, engineers and builds bulk material processing and handling equipment and machinery components.

Four projects in 2016 for CDE with Cemex

Following the recent announcement of the opening of Datchet Quarry CDE is delighted to announce a partnership with Cemex to deliver a further three new sand and aggregates washing projects across the Midlands and South of England. Over the four projects Cemex is making a substantial investment to further strengthen their UK aggregates operations. To date two projects are complete with another two to commission before the end of 2016.

CDE Global expands team in The Gulf

CDE Global has announced a new addition to the team with the appointment of Mr. Ruchin Garg as Business Development Manager for The Gulf. Mr Garg will oversee the development of the CDE project portfolio in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman and joins the CDE team having previously been involved in the development of the CDE Asia mining business in India.

1,000,000 Tonnes of Sand Production for WA Limestone - Zero Parts Cost

WA Limestone washed sand stockpile from M2500

The sand and gravel plant for leading construction materials supplier WA Limestone is now in its fourth year of operation having produced 1,000,000 tons of concrete sand and gravel in the first three years.  Since it’s installation in 2011 at their site in Perth, Western Australia, WA Limestone has had no requirement to purchase any parts or service repairs other than routine plant maintenance which in itself has generated substantial cost savings while ensuring the optimum capacity at a rate of 200tph.

CDE to unveil new Evowash sand washing plant at Bauma Munich

Following an extensive research and development programme CDE have announced that the launch of the next generation EvoWash sand washing plant will take place at bauma Munich in April.

The EvoWash is a compact sand washing system integrating a dewatering screen, sump and hydrocyclone configuration which is customised to the specific requirements of the materials washing project on which it is specified.
