EN 16228 is a new safety standard series introducing a number of new requirements for surface drill rigs and associated equipment. The standard came into force on December 1st 2014 necessitating intensive product development. Due to Sandvik's commitment to safety, these changes were warmly embraced with implementation work beginning in 2013 resulting in the first surface drill rig complying with the new standard, a Ranger DX, being successfully delivered to its customer on December 8th 2014.

Sandvik Construction Russia and authorized distributor Quarry Service recently demonstrated the DP1500i drill rig at the Donskoy Kamen and Yugvzrivprom operated Fedorovskoye sandstone quarry in the Rostov region. Equipped to deal with the sandstone application the DP1500i’s bits lasted 2.5 times longer, with the rig using less than half the fuel, and drilling twice the distance.

The company made its first foray into the crushing and recycling market in 2006 with the purchase of an Extec C-10 Crusher. Sandvik Construction announces that Martin Friedl has been appointed Vice President Sales Area Central Europe. Martin’s new role, which is effective as of the 1st September 2014, will present new challenges, but Martin is seen as the ideal appointment for this key position within the Sandvik Construction organization.
Sandvik Construction now launches the new +Range MF-rod series for bench drilling applications. Field tests indicate that the +Range delivers more than 30% longer lifetime than conventional rods.
During Sandvik’s long and proud history, many market leading products have been designed and produced, developing a loyal customer base throughout the world. For various reasons many of these products names changed. The equipment is still out there, doing productive work for their owners, but it was thought that the defining names would be lost forever. Sandvik Construction reintroduced at CONEXPO-CONAGG some of our customers’ favorite product names and aims to launch new ones in 2014 and 2015.
The first Sandvik Construction CI512 PrisecTM HSI crusher in Russia has been acquired by Koelga Marble. Purchased in November 2013 the crusher is working at the famous Koelga Quarry, the largest Russian marble quarry, and one of the world’s largest. Supplied by Sandvik’s Russian distributor, Quarry Service, the CI512 PrisecTM operates 24hrs each day, has improved the cubicity of the end product and increased productivity by up to 50% whilst decreasing noise pollution.
