Scotland turns up the Heat on geothermal Investment

Arup and its project partners, Geothermal Engineering Ltd (GEL) and St. Andrews University, have been awarded funding by the Scottish Government to investigate the feasibility of implementing ground-breaking Deep Geothermal Single Well (DGSW) technology at the proposed Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).


KfW IPEX-Bank provides Financing for Scottish Railway Network

KfW IPEX-Bank has provided structured financing for the Scottish railway network together with SMBC Leasing and Finance Inc. and RBS/Lombard. KfW IPEX-Bank's contribution amounts to GBP 140 million (around EUR 190 million).


Costain: Work starts on Glasgow-Edinburgh Rail Link Electrification

Work is underway on a major rail electrification project that will improve services on one of the busiest lines in Scotland. Costain and its partners Alstom Transport and Babcock Rail will install overhead line (OHL) equipment – masts and catenary wires – between Glasgow’s Queen Street Station to just outside Newbridge, on the western edge of Edinburgh city centre. The project is being undertaken in alliance with Network Rail and Morgan Sindall.


Miller Plant invest seven Figure Sum in Sandvik Mobile C&S Equipment

Aberdeenshire based Miller Plant Limited, founded in 1968, provide plant hire services to the agricultural community, local authorities, construction companies and estates. The company made its first foray into the crushing and recycling market in 2006 with the purchase of an Extec C-10 Crusher. However, recent investment in mobile crushing and screening equipment from Sandvik Construction has enabled the company to broaden its service portfolio to include the demolition and quarrying industries.


UKCCSRC welcomes Government boost to advancing Carbon Capture and Storage

The UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) today announced the award of a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study for the Peterhead Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project on a natural gas power plant in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

This news comes just two months after the FEED study contract for the White Rose commercial-scale CCS electricity project at Drax power station in North Yorkshire was announced.
