Anglo American contributes up to Us$30 Million towards global Covid-19 Vaccine Roll-Out

Anglo American is making available up to US$30 million of support towards the global roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines across its operational footprint. The nature of the contribution, consisting of cash and in-kind support, will differ by country based on the vaccine deployment models being adopted by, and the needs of, each country. Anglo American’s support is expected to include contributions towards the procurement of vaccines by host governments, as well as logistical support and health and other infrastructure required to facilitate the efficient roll-out of vaccines.

Glencore to support Nyrstar at Port Pirie

Glencore announces that it has been engaged by Nyrstar to provide, through the Kazzinc operation in Kazakhstan, training and ramp-up support services in connection with Nyrstar's Transformation Project in Port Pirie, South Australia. This follows the successful implementation of Kazzinc's New Metallurgy Project, which was completed in 2012.

BHP Billiton appoints Country Director in Brazil

BHP Billiton has announced the appointment of Flávio Bulcão as Country Director, Brazil, effective immediately. Mr Bulcão will lead the BHP Billiton team based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil supporting Samarco in the humanitarian, environmental and operational recovery efforts following the breach of the Fundão tailings dam in Minas Gerais on 5 November 2015.

Samarco supports and trains Staff at Water Treatment Plants

Samarco is concluding a major effort of providing support to 16 water treatment plants in the municipalities along the Doce River. Fifty specialized Samarco employees were sent to 11 cities in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, to help train local technicians and operators in the treatment of the water so it could be supplied to the population. Shortly all of the plants will be operating independently, as they did before the accident.

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has re-packaged its proven and tested service offering for gearless mill drives (GMD) remote diagnostic services with the launch of a newly created product package of two modules, GMDbeatTM and GMDfitTM. The basic module, GMDbeat, covers ABB’s SupportLine and online troubleshooting while the enhanced module, GMDfit, offers online condition monitoring, predictive analytics and periodic health checks from ABB system experts. Ivanhoe Mines responds to misinformed and damaging Comments contained in Bloomberg Story

Lars-Eric Johansson, Chief Executive Officer of Ivanhoe Mines (TSX:IVN), and Dr. Patricia Makhesha, Managing Director of the Ivanplats subsidiary's Platreef Project, issued a statement responding to spurious allegations made in a Bloomberg news story published and headlined, Friedland's South Africa platinum project faces local challenge. The allegations did not accurately and fairly represent circumstances concerning the support by representatives of an overwhelming majority of the communities in the Mokopane area for the planned development by Ivanhoe Mines of its Platreef platinum, palladium, nickel, copper, gold and rhodium project on the Northern Limb of the Bushveld Complex in South Africa.
