€100 million Order: Bilfinger to install Foundations for Sandbank Offshore Windpark

The engineering and services group Bilfinger has won an order for the installation of a total of 72 foundations for the new Sandbank Offshore Windpark. Sandbank is a joint partnership of Vattenfall (51 percent) and the city of Munich's public utility company (49 percent). The foundation elements will be installed in the seabed with the help of an installation ship in waters that are up to 34 meters deep and 90 kilometers west of Sylt in the German North Sea. The contract has a volume of more than €100 million. Work has already begun and will continue until February 2016.

Tata Steel signs Contracts to supply Pipes to Subsea 7

Tata Steel has signed a series of contracts with Subsea 7 - one of the world's leading contractors in engineering, construction and subsea services to the offshore industry - to supply undersea pipes to four separate North Sea projects. The four contracts, signed over the past year and worth an estimated £10 million in total, will see Tata Steel supply in excess of 55km of pipe weighing more than 9,000 tonnes.


Flatiron wins $200M Bridge Project in Seattle

Flatiron, one of the largest infrastructure contractors in North America, has secured a contract for the State Route 520 West Approach Bridge North in Seattle, Washington. The $199.5 million project for owner Washington State Department of Transportation includes building two new west approach bridges – one each direction for eastbound and westbound traffic – that will connect the new SR 520 floating bridge to the Montlake area.


Thiess to build Advanced Water Recycling Plant

A Thiess joint venture has been selected to design and construct an advanced water recycling plant (AWRP) for Western Australia’s Water Corporation in Craigie, north of Perth. The AWRP will use treated water from the Beenyup Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to inject highly-treated wastewater into aquifers as part of a project to boost Perth’s drinking water supplies.


FEED for Northern Emirates Pipeline

After successfully completing the conceptual study for the Northern Emirates Pipeline (NEP) at the beginning of the year, ILF Consulting Engineers was awarded a contract to perform front-end engineering design (FEED) by Dolphin Energy Limited (DEL) in May 2014.


ABB wins $35 Million HVDC Upgrade Order in Canada

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won an order worth about $35 million from Hydro-Québec to upgrade the 350 megawatt (MW) Madawaska high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link, that connects the grids of New Brunswick and Hydro Québec in southeast Canada. The order was booked in the second quarter of 2014.
