Robbins TBM “Rosie” is First Crossover TBM in the U.S.

A Robbins Crossover (XRE) TBM measuring 9.26 m (30.4 ft) in diameter underwent factory acceptance on May 30, 2016. The gargantuan machine was initially unveiled at Robbins’ Solon, Ohio headquarters during a press day on May 25 before being shipped 40 km (25 mi) south for construction of the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel (OCIT) in Akron. Those present included Akron Mayor Daniel Horrigan, Robbins chief engineer Dennis Ofiara, and David Chastka, project engineer for contractor Kenny-Obayashi JV.

Successful Mine Rescue in China using Bauer Technology

For 36 days, hundreds of rescue workers fought for the lives of numerous buried miners in a gypsum mine in the Shandong province of eastern China. On January 29, four of them were eventually saved through a vertical emergency shaft, not least thanks to the drilling rigs from Bauer Maschinen Group that were in operation.

BBMV successfully hands over Crossrail’s Whitechapel temporary Station

BBMV, the Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall, Vinci Construction joint venture, which is delivering the Crossrail Whitechapel Main Station Works contract (C512) has handed over Whitechapel’s temporary ticket hall station to London Underground. The temporary station opened to the public this week. The interim station re-routes passengers out of the station to ensure future engineering works take place in a safe environment with minimal disruption to the exisiting Underground and Overground services. It was officially handed over to London Underground for staff training in early December last year. This significant project milestone means that all the technical systems can now be migrated from the current main station building while it is upgraded, to make way for the new Crossrail concourse.
