Shell Australia today announced its Geelong Refinery is for sale.

The proposed sale of the 120 kb/d refinery is in line with Shell’s global strategy to concentrate investment on large scale sites, such as the company’s world scale Pulau Bukom refinery in Singapore.The announcement underpins Shell’s local strategy to grow its retail and bulk fuels business, along with terminals and pipelines.

HDR Acquires Salva Resources

HDR has acquired Salva Resources, a global provider of key technical and commercial services for mining exploration and investment. The acquisition includes both Salva Resources’ exploration and mining consultancy and Salva Reports’ commodity analysis group. Salva Resources has more than 200 employees in Australia, India, Indonesia, Mongolia and the United Kingdom. Going forward, Salva Resources will do business as HDR|Salva. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

ABB wins $15 million oil and gas order in Australia

Main electrical contractor for the world’s largest offshore central processing facility

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has been appointed the main electrical contractor (MEC) for a new semi-submersible central processing facility (CPF) at the Ichthys oil and gas field in the Timor Sea off Western Australia. The order is valued at $15 million. ABB was awarded the MEC contract by the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the central processing facility, Samsung Heavy Industries. When completed in 2016 the CPF will be the largest offshore production facility in the world.
