Bauer Maschinen Group sells Diesel Hammer Product Line

At the beginning of October 2018, the Bauer Maschinen Group decided to sell the diesel hammer product line and the associated brand name Pileco to Wang LLC, a subsidiary of Wuxi Xinren Universal Machinery CO, a long-standing supplier and partner to Bauer. "This profitable sale was a logical step," says Christian Gress, member of the Management Board in the Bauer Maschinen GmbH, explaining that the sale was due both to market developments in the diesel hammer sector in the USA as well as to the fact that the product ultimately no longer suits Bauer's overall Portfolio.

Sika acquires Concrete Fiber Company in the USA

Sika has acquired the global Concrete Fibers business from Propex Holding, LLC, which includes a US plant manufacturing synthetic fibers for use in concrete reinforcement, sales operations in Sika's three geographical regions, and a strong brand. The acquired business is a perfect addition to Sika's concrete systems for high value-added solutions required in the construction of high-rise buildings and demanding infrastructure projects. The acquired business generates annual sales of CHF 30 million.

Port Houston undergoes Modernization with help from Engineering Firm, Hatch

Port of Houston Authority (PHA) continues to upgrade and modernize elements of its Barbours Cut Container Terminal—one of two major container terminals that they operate—to accommodate a forecasted double-digit growth. PHA oversees 25 miles of terminals along the 52-mile-long ship channel the busiest port in the US in terms of foreign tonnage, second-busiest in overall tonnage, and sixteenth-busiest in the world. PHA has called upon Hatch, an engineering and consultancy firm with more than two decades of experience at Port Houston, to plan and execute upgrades to the in-bound truck check-in gate and security gates, which are nearing their functional capacity. By expanding, relocating, and modernizing the gates and components, the terminal will have a throughput of 2.5 million TEUs, twice that of the existing in-bound gate system.

Controlled Thermal Resources and Hatch partner to revolutionize Lithium Production using geothermal Power

Controlled Thermal Resources (CTR) announced the launch of the company’s $1.8-billion Hell’s Kitchen lithium-geothermal project at the CG/LA North American Infrastructure Leadership Forum. The project’s available lithium carbonate equivalent is estimated at approximately 76,000 tonnes per annum and will use 100 percent renewable baseload geothermal power. Hatch has been and will continue to support the project’s technology development and will provide engineering and project execution services.

Herbert Hoover Dike: Bauer Foundation Corp. commissioned with Remediation Work of another Section

 

With a total area of 1,890 km², Lake Okeechobee is the largest freshwater lake in the state of Florida, USA. Although it extends around 56 km in length and 48 km in width, the lake is exceptionally shallow with an average depth of 3 m and, furthermore, it has no major natural drainage channels. As protection from storm urges and floods due to high water levels, the existing dike was first expanded in the 1920s; this included the construction of additional channels, locks and dams. After a visit by the then President Herbert Hoover, the project was named after him: Herbert Hoover Dike.
